New changes in Express Entry: Candidates for programs managed by Express Entry will now be selected based on their group, as announced by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The announcement comes nearly a year after legislation was passed to allow the immigration minister to prioritise Express Entry applicants with specific talents to aid Canada’s economic goals. Many predicted that targeted draws would begin this year, but IRCC has yet to discuss the criteria that could be utilised in such a process.
With this new data, we’ve gathered responses to some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) we’ve received from prospective Express Entry candidates about the revised selection criteria.
Suppose an Express Entry applicant has job experience in one of the following areas. In that case, they will be placed in one of the new draw categories: tradespeople (such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors), agricultural and agri-food transporters, and people with high levels of French language proficiency (at least NCLC 7 in reading, writing, hearing, and speaking) are all in high demand.
When will the draws be?

Applicants must still satisfy all eligibility criteria to be considered for an Express Entry-managed program. In addition to the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Canadian Experience Class and the Federal Express Entry system may also be utilised.
Can we expect Express Entry to stop making use of the CRS?
A candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) number will still be considered during Express Entry drawings. IRCC will continue to conduct draws where applicants are considered without respect to the aforementioned six classifications. There could be sweepstakes for multiple shows or just one.

The IRCC promises to hold general and PNP-specific rounds to invite candidates nominated by a province or territory. The government claims these individuals have demonstrated they can contribute to the province’s or territory’s economy through their education, employment experience, and other credentials.

The Immigration Minister of Canada is tasked with furthering the country’s economic objectives and fostering the development of French-speaking communities outside of Quebec. This safeguards French’s status as an official language in Canada.
The mission of these new organizations is to fill the many available positions across Canada. In addition to increasing the number of French speakers in places where French is spoken but not as the major language, targeted immigration can help fill employment in areas where there are not enough individuals to fill the positions.
According to Minister Fraser, Canada will benefit from allowing more talented workers in these industries because these workers are in high demand nationwide.

IRCC claims that the categories were determined through mandated consultations with provinces and territories, industry, unions, employers, employees, worker advocacy groups, settlement provider organisations, and immigration scholars and practitioners.
