What is the requirement for Quebec Skilled Worker Immigration?

Quebec is the French state of Canada. The immigration programs of Quebec have a unique position in the Canadian Immigration system. Quebec is famous for its cultural heritage. Every year many immigrants choose the Quebec Skilled Worker Immigration Program to migrate to Quebec on a permanent basis.

Quebec has its own permanent residence programs. If you are eligible and want to move to Quebec, then you apply for the Quebec Skilled Workers program.

The applicant’s eligibility can be checked on the bases of many factors like their age, education level, language proficiency level, their work experience and also if they have any ties with Quebec.

The Quebec Regular Skilled Workers Program (QSWP) is a well-established program for applicants who want to work and live in Quebec permanently. This is similar to the Federal Skilled Workers program under Express Entry.

Applicants are required to submit the Expression Of Interest (EOI) to declare their interest in immigration in the province of Quebec through the online portal.

Eligible candidates are selected by The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) on a regular basis from the candidate’s pool and will be invited to apply for the permanent residency.

Improvements under The Quebec Regular Skilled Workers Program (QSWP):

Earlier, the Quebec Regular Skilled Workers Program (QSWP) applications were submitted in the format of a paper, and there was a quota on the applications.

Due to the submission of a large number of applications, Quebec immigration has set up a fixed number of applications which can be submitted and also the time until they can submit the application.

It’s basically a first come, first serve program, which was an inefficient system, and this caused the application inventory to expand, causing the backlog.

In the old system, the submitted number of applications was greater than the available spots for immigrants. This increased the waiting time for many applicants.

To improve these conditions, a reboot was applied to the Quebec Skilled Worker program removing the first come, first serve approach and backlog of applications.

Also, a new platform Arrima was introduced in 2018, and after that, an Expression Of Interest is submitted online. Expression Of Interest is a system which provides equal opportunity to submit expressions

If you are 18 years or older, then you can apply for the Expression Of Interest to migrate to Canada.

Expression Of Interest (EOI) for Quebec:

This is a process which selects the skilled migrants in two steps. The Expression of Interest can select skilled immigrants from Quebec province and also from abroad.

The first step of the two-step process is to submit the Expression of Interest for permanent residency electronically on the government platform Arrima. This step is the pre-screening process. This process ranks the applicants based on human capital and labour market-related criteria.

The second step is to invite the candidates who are top-ranked for the permanent residency application who are selected in the regular draws from the pool.

The selection for getting an invitation for permanent residency application depends upon many factors. These factors include the government’s annual admission targets, processing capacity, candidates’ scores in the pool and also if the applicant has a job offer from the target occupation at the time of draw.
