Indian Students Protest Changes to Canada’s Immigration Policy Amid Deportation Fears

Many students, mostly Indian students, have come together to protest the changes to government policy. These kids have been severely affected by the changes to the rules. Many people who plan to apply for permanent residency after finishing school now have a lot of debt and broken hopes.

Hundreds of Indian students in Canada have taken to the streets to protest the country’s new visa rules because they are afraid they will be sent back to India.

Also, many of the over 70,000 international students in Canada who are protesting the changes to government policy have come together. Many of these students came here with the hope of starting over, but now they’re leaving their anger on the streets.

These students are more likely to be deported because of changes made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government, such as limits on study permits.

The changes to the rules have severely affected these kids. CityNews Toronto reported that many people who planned to apply for permanent residency after finishing school now have a lot of debt and broken hopes.

New provincial policies call for a 25% drop in permanent residency nominees, which puts many students at risk of being deported. The situation has become very bad.

Many former foreign students who were being sent back to their home countries were upset. They said, “We took many risks during the most important years of our lives to come to Canada.” Even though we worked hard, went to school, and paid our taxes, the government took advantage of us and other citizens.

Why is Canada cutting down on the number of temporary foreign workers?

The Canadian government said on Monday that it will drastically cut the number of casual foreign workers it hires. This is the opposite of what happened in 2022, when the number of workers increased. This choice was made when Justin Trudeau’s government was facing growing worries about the number of temporary residents.

Trudeau’s cabinet may also cut permanent residency lines. The prime minister of Canada said, “We’re looking at the different streams to make sure that as we move forward, Canada remains a place that is positive in its support for immigration, but also responsible in the way we integrate and make sure there are pathways to success for everyone who comes to Canada.”

Low-wage temporary foreign workers will no longer be allowed in areas with a jobless rate of 6% or higher. Employers can only hire 10% of low-wage temporary foreign workers, and their permits will only last for one year instead of two.
