On August 30, the Government of Saskatchewan announced two new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) pathways under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). These new pathways focus on workers in the healthcare and agriculture sectors.
Jeremy Harrison, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Immigration and Career Training, explained that these pathways are designed to ensure the province’s immigration system meets current labour market needs.
He also stated that creating targeted immigration pathways and simplifying credential recognition will help Saskatchewan employers address ongoing labour shortages across the province.
Purpose of the New SINP Pathways
The new pathways aim to fill critical labour gaps in two key industries:
Agriculture, which plays a major role in Saskatchewan’s economy
Healthcare, where demand for skilled professionals continues to grow
In 2023 alone, Saskatchewan exported over $3.2 billion worth of key agricultural products, highlighting the importance of maintaining a strong workforce in this sector.
